Self-efficacy and Self-esteem as Determinants of Students’ Interest in Introductory Technology in Anambra State, Nigeria

Despite the importance of introductory technology as vocational subjects and basis STEM education, students’ interest in subject is not encouraging many students have erroneous conception subject. Given this situation, study investigated self-esteem self-efficacy determinants technology. Anchored on social cognitive theory, adopted a factorial design 2-Way analysis variance statistical tool to examine effects interests Introductory Technology. The sample consist 478 junior secondary II (221 males, 257 females) whose ages ranged from 11 15yrs with mean age 12.50years standard deviation 1.20. Multi-stage sampling method was used selecting for study. Data were collected Interest Scale, Index scale Self-efficacy scale. result revealed that observed difference Technology among high low significant at F(3, 478) = 15.9, p < .05. Also, 12.0, Equally findings there interaction effect between 7.5, Findings imply impacted It recommended school management consider adoption extra-curricular activities aimed improving skill competence enhance self-efficacy.
